HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR MRS. HANNA ZACK MILEY SHARES MESSAGE WITH SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS

On Friday, February 20, Holocaust survivor Mrs. Hanna Zack Miley came and spoke to the sixth grade students. Her visit coincided with the sixth grade study of World War II. Mrs. Miley shared her story and took questions from the students about her experiences on the Kindertransport and her life after. Kindertransport is the rescue effort that saved thousands of Jewish children from the Nazi regime by granting them safe passage to England. Her book is, A Garland for Ashes: World War II, the Holocaust, and One Jewish Survivor’s Long Journey to Forgiveness. Mrs. Miley shared her heartbreaking process of discovering her family’s fate and a poignant account of her journey from vengeful hatred to forgiveness and release from bitterness with the children and adults.
