On 27 January, 2015, the 70th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz/Birkenau, representatives of the praying and repentant church will gather in the spirit of Daniel 9 in Auschwitz/Birkenau, launching 100 days of global prayer. (www.100-days.eu)

The name Auschwitz is a symbol for evil. My childhood best friend Kurt died in Auschwitz. Yet there were many lesser known, smaller camps. It is estimated that approximately 15,000 labor, death and concentration camps existed. (www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org and Atlas of the Holocaust by Martin Gilbert) Many names are forgotten or unknown. Chelmno, Poland where my parents, Markus and Amalie Zack perished, is one of those small hidden places.

My painful healing journey to that dark, sacred place is described in the last 5 chapters of A Garland for Ashes and Meine Krone in der Asche (the German version).

In remembrance of my parents and all the others.

Hanna Zack Miley
